Greetings everyone…

Homicide: Life on the Street was an American television police procedural series, chronicling the work of a fictional Baltimore Police Department homicide unit. It ran for seven consecutive seasons on the NBC network, from the year 1993 to 1999 and then was followed by a 2000 TV-movie that served as a de facto series finale. The series was based on David Simon’s nonfiction book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, and many characters and stories used throughout the show’s seven seasons were based on individuals and events depicted in the book. Although Homicide features an ensemble cast, Andre Braugher (who portrayed Det. Frank Pembleton) eventually emerged as the series’ excellent star.

Homicide : Life On The Street

Homicide’s purpose was to provide us fans, with a no-nonsense, police procedural-type glimpse into the lives of a squad of inner-city detectives. Homicide initially opted for a bleak sort of realism in its depiction of ‘The Job’, portraying it as repetitive, spiritually draining, an existential threat to one’s psyche, often glamour and glory free but, nonetheless, a social necessity.

In the 2000 TV movie filmed after the series ended, Homicide: The Movie, the squad’s former lieutenant, Al Giardello, is running for mayor (on a controversial pro-drug-legalization platform, a reference to Baltimore mayor Kurt Schmoke) and is close to victory when he is shot during a campaign speech.

It has been around ten years since when “Homicide: Life on the Street” ended, but I still remember each and every thing about the show. I was literally crazy for this show. I have no any idea how many times I watched the show. Since the day this show kicked off with its first season till the last episode of the amazingly different series, I haven’t missed any of the episodes.

I do like each and everything concerning the show. Whether it is the entrance music, wallpapers, news of the stars from the show or anything that has any relevance to the show, I was interested in all of them.

Even though it has been a long time since its end, my passion for the show still continues. It won’t say that I am the biggest fan of the show, as I don’t know about others, but I surely am one of the biggest fans of “Homicide: Life on the Street”.

All the characters on the show were liked by me but among them I loved the role of Kay Howard the most. This role was played by the well known American actress Melissa Leo. The role existed in first five season of the show. Trust me, in the rest two seasons I missed her in each episode. You all will be surprised to know that Kay was the only female Homicide detective for the first two seasons. Moreover, she was the only female in the list of main characters of the show, for the first two seasons.

Kay was a tough character, but as a detective she was very smart, systematic and realistic. And something which I love in her was her attitude. I think she worked with the thought that being the only female detective, she had to prove herself. I just loved her attitude toward her work.

After digging an Oscar nomination for Frozen River playing a woman who smuggles immigrants into the US to make a fast buck, Melissa Leo, well known for her role in Homicide: Life on the Street attained a much sought after role in David O. Russell’s The Fighter. In it, she portrays the mother of Boston boxer “Irish” Mickey Ward (Mark Wahlberg) and coach Dicky Eklund (Christian Bale).
You all will be surprised to know that when Digital Spy in recent times wedged up with Melissa, she spoke passionately about the sports drama and contrasted Wahlberg and Bale to Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.

When Melissa was asked about Mark and Christian, she said, “In very opposite ways. A few years ago I had a very blessed experience of being on the set of Righteous Kill and watching Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, two all-time heroes. The way they approach a role could not be further than the North and South Pole and it’s kind of the same with Mark and Christian”.
Talking about David O. Russell, whether he volatile on set or not, Melissa said, “I don’t think its volatility. It’s a total, complete promise to it. Filmmaking is about having a very, very clear and neat plan that you can twist 180 degrees and still make it work. David is continuously spinning it 180 and that can certainly be annoying. It’s much easier to walk a very plain, clean path, but I think it makes it a much more attractive film if you can go with your head! These are uneven seas; we’re shooting boxing matches with seven cameras going! It’s just a question of being capable to keep up with him.”
I am personally very much overwhelmed with Melissa perceptions and I really appreciate it. This is the reason why she is heading towards the top. Trust me guys, ability takes you at the top but it is just you character which keeps you there. Melissa has both, ability and character as well.
On May 21st, 1999, the seventh season of this wonderful series ended. But if you still miss this series, then don’t worry. Through this website you can download Homicide: Life on the Street episodes and can watch Homicide: Life on the Street episodes online as well.

The American actor, director and producer Daniel Baldwin, who is well know for his appearance in “Homicide: Life on Street” as Beau Felton will soon be seen on ITV’s reality show “I’m a Celebrity … Get me out of here!”

“I’m a Celebrity … Get me out of here!” is a very practical reality show where celebrities live in wilderness with almost non existent comforts and have to earn the basics essentials on their own.

Baldwin will replace newlywed couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt on the reality show in Costa Rica. The Pratts decided to quit the show after the first episode as they could not deal with the hard jungle life. Pratts were repulsed when their teammates were forced to eat tarantula on the show.

But fans of this reality show really don’t have to worry about this as we will soon have Daniel Baldwin, who is a very strong man, on the show. Even his brother Stephen Baldwin is also in the show as a cast member.

Hey TV junkies, I have some fantastic facts for you about our fave classic show Homicide: Life on the Street which thrilled me to the core. I am sure you guys will also find an immense pleasure in reading them. I am an avid fan of this path breaking police procedural TV show and when I got to know some interesting facts, I immediately thought to switch on this to other Homicide series fans.

You know guys, this series is based on the book “Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets” written by David Simon (II), a Baltimore Sun reporter who joined the Baltimore Police Homicide Unit as a civilian assistant. In this book, extensive notes, observations and interviews by David Simon (II) are mentioned in details. Most of the first and second seasons of the show are based on the actual events narrated in the book.

Homicide: Life on the Street wallpaper

I laughed my head off when I read about a hilarious situation involving a real live criminal, who fled from the Baltimore Police Department. He entered the set of Homicide: Life on the Street and surrendered himself to the actors in the uniform. Isn’t it funny?

Later on, this incident was used in an episode where the actors in the show followed a suspect into the sets of “Homicide” and confronted the director, Barry Levinson (I) along with some of their fave artists.

The team of Homicide series was so devoted that the producers insisted that the staff writers should stay at Baltimore area for being more creative. This is what I like about old shows; the team spirit is visible in their work.

So tell me folks, how many of you are captivated by these interesting facts? I am eager to know your feedback for which you just have to write a comment and submit it. You can also download this iconic show by just clicking on download button. Yeah… grab the golden chance to watch Homicide: Life on the Street at your leisure.

Melissa Leo is the lady we all know as detective Kay Howard from Homicide: Life on the Street. Well, I know it was long time back that the series was on air. But there are people who still like to watch the no-nonsense police drama and also talk about the stars of the series. And why not? After all, the series changed a lot especially the crime drama series on the American television.

Coming down to Melissa Leo, recently once again the actress was in news for being nominated for Best Actress in a Lead Role at the Academy Awards, for the series Frozen River. The actress calls her part in the series Frozen River, her dream role. Though, it is not for the first time that the actress has been nominated for an award. Long time back, in 1980’s the actress earned a nomination for her role in ‘All My Children’, the series that got her famous all over. After that, she did not do get any big role for almost ten years and her long wait ended with ‘Homicide: Life on the Street‘, where she played detective Kay Howard. Melissa even today is remembered for her role in the series. She was a part of the series for almost five years.

Melissa Leo has always been in news for her lifestyle. Melissa likes to do all her work on her own, right from washing to cooking to dishes. The lady prefers a quite lifestyle and when she is not at her home near Woodstock, New York, she is in her home on a dead-end street just a couple of blocks from the Santa Monica Freeway.

Frozen River, the series for which she has been nominated, was shot in sub-zero weather in 24 days way back in 2007. The actress worked really hard for her role and who doesn’t like getting appreciation for hard work. We wish her luck for winning the award and we just hope that we will get to see some more good work from the fine actress in the near future.
